NFL Week 9 Jock MKT Value Buys

Jock MKT is one of the most interesting fantasy sports platforms because of your ability to make money on any individual player available on the market. Other users will dictate the price of players, meaning you’ll always have the option to buy anyone in the player pool.

You may be forced to pay a premium for the best players on the slate, although their price tag will never exceed the $25 per share you’ll receive if they lead the slate in scoring. You aren’t forced to buy high-priced options, though.

With over 100 players on the market, some will go overlooked every Sunday. You don’t need to buy the most expensive options on the market to have the potential for a massive payday. In this article, I’ll look at my favorite potential values for Week 9.

Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Jock MKT Projection: 10.95 FPs

Max IPO Bid: $3.00

Jefferson’s taken a massive step forward through 8 games in his second season in the NFL. He’s recorded 24 receptions for 392 yards and 3 touchdowns on 39 targets. He’s posted a career-high 16.3 yards per catch and 10.1 yards per target in 2021.

Jefferson’s been a boom or bust option early this season. He’s scored double-digit fantasy points in 4 of his 8 games. He’s also scored 5 or fewer fantasy points in 3 of those 8 games. Overall, he’s flashed 20+ fantasy point upside as the third receiver for the Los Angeles Rams.

Jefferson started the season out with a surprising 16 fantasy point performance against the Chicago Bears, as he was expected to split snaps with DeSean Jackson early on. He struggled a bit in 4 of his next 5 games, flashing against the Arizona Cardinals. Jefferson’s taken over the deep role, though, scoring 11.8 and 14.3 fantasy points over his last 2 games. Jackson’s also been released, allowing the sophomore to continue his improved season.

Jefferson gets a matchup against the Tennessee Titans this week. They’re allowing 267.4 passing yards and 7.1 adjusted yards per attempt this season. Furthermore, they’ve given up 15 passing touchdowns with a 4.7% passing touchdown rate in 2021.

Most importantly, Tennessee’s struggled with air yards this season. They’ve allowed 1,244 air yards thus far. The Titans have also given up 1,005 yards after the catch this season. They’ve allowed the sixth-most airYAC (2,249) through 8 games in 2021.

Jefferson doesn’t own the biggest role in the Los Angeles offense, but he’s seen 22.2% of their air yards this season. Overall, he’s recorded 534 air yards with an elite 13.7 aDOT through 8 games. He’s the type of receiver that Tennessee continues to struggle with.

The Rams also stated a couple of weeks ago that they wanted to get Jefferson more involved in the red zone. He’s only seen 5 red zone targets, posting 2 receptions for 25 yards and 2 touchdowns. With that being said, he caught an 11-yard touchdown against the Detroit Lions, and he could continue to see more red zone targets as the season progresses.

Jefferson ranks 94th in Jock MKT’s pre-rank for Week 9. He’s projected for 10.95 fantasy points. He’s a player that consistently goes overlooked, as he’s arguably the fifth option in the Los Angeles offense. With that being said, he runs plenty of routes and comes with tremendous upside because of his speed. This is a great matchup for Jefferson’s skillset, and he’ll be available for extremely cheap.

Elijah Mitchell, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Jock MKT Projection: 12.58 FPs

Max IPO Bid: $4.00

Mitchell’s been playing at an elite level at times throughout his rookie season. Through 5 games, he’s rushed for 433 yards and 3 touchdowns on 81 attempts. He’s also added 4 receptions for 30 yards on 4 targets.

Mitchell’s been a boom or bust option throughout the 2021 season. He’s rushed for 100+ yards with 1 touchdown in 3 of his 5 games, recording less than 50 rushing yards in the other 2 games. He’s also scored 22.7 and 19.7 fantasy points with 244 yards and 2 touchdowns on the last 2 weeks.

Mitchell gets a great matchup against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. They’re allowing 120.1 rushing yards per game. More importantly, they’re allowing 4.9 rushing yards per carry, although the Cardinals have only given up 4 rushing touchdowns this season.

Kyler Murray could be a key to this game. He’s injured and may miss the game, although he’s likely to be somewhat limited if he’s available to play. Regardless, the spread is only 1 point, suggesting the 49ers could run the ball throughout the game.

Mitchell’s only seen 10 red zone carries this season, although he’s been limited with injuries at times. He’s turned those into 52 yards and 2 touchdowns. Most importantly, Mitchell’s seen the majority of the red zone carries for San Francisco, and that will continue this weekend.

It’s important to note that he’s currently dealing with an injury to his ribs. He’s been limited in practice, and Mitchell’s expected to suit up this weekend. Luckily, the IPO doesn’t open until Sunday when we’ll have significantly more information about his health.

Mitchell owns a pre-rank of 75th on Jock MKT this weekend. He’s projected for 12.58 fantasy points. I expect this game to stay extremely close throughout, and Mitchell’s seen 18 carries in each of his last 2 games. He should continue to see a big workload this weekend, and the Arizona defense has struggled to slow down the run throughout the season.
